Modern Islamic Movements: Models, Problems & Prospects by Muhammad Mumtaz Ali
The importance and significance of Islamic Resurgence in contemporary times can be hardly ignored. Behind the contemporary Islamic resurgence lies the philosophy and the potential strength of the modern Islamic movements. But, it is so unfortunate that the Islamic movements are generally perceived as anti-modernist, irrationally anti-Western, homogeneous, and one-dimensional. Such vague and ambiguous views on Islamic movements persist because they are usually studied as a reactionary and defensive movements against the Western Colonization of the Muslim World. Here, it is argued that the Islamic Movements are comprehensive, holistic, universally relevant and pervasive.
